Lecture 1 | Biological Blueprints: Sex-Specific Risk Factors

Speaker: Rekha Mankad, MD, FACC (15 mins)

  • Identify unique sex-specific risk enhancers: preeclampsia, gestational diabetes, premature menopause, and PCOS.
  • Differentiate the disproportionately higher relative risk of traditional factors (smoking, DM, HTN) in women.
  • Explain the influence of Sex as a Biological Variable (SABV) on vascular aging from menarche through menopause.

 

Lecture 2 | 2026 CV Prevention Update: Translating Guidelines

Speaker: Gina Lundberg, MD, FACC (15 mins)

  • Implement updated 2026 risk-stratification algorithms for primary prevention.
  • Apply tailored lipid-lowering and hypertension thresholds for women at various life stages.
  • Develop strategies to improve GDMT adherence, addressing microvascular disease and statin-associated symptoms.

 

Lecture 3 | Navigating Menopause and Cardiovascular Risk

Speaker: Martha Gulati, MD, MS, FACC (15 mins)

  • Assess CV risk prior to Menopausal Hormone Therapy (MHT) using traditional calculators and imaging/biomarkers.
  • Differentiate contraindications to systemic hormone therapy in high-risk CVD patients.
  • Develop shared decision-making strategies and non-hormonal alternatives for symptomatic women.
